Susan Collins finds it “extremely disappointing” that Americans want to take action against gun violence immediately after a weekend that contained two mass shootings.
Collins told conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt that so soon after a mass shooting is not moment for doing anything but consoling people: “there are times for political debate, but this is not one of them.”
American Bridge tweeted out the audio:
NEW: After two mass shootings, @SenatorCollins thinks it’s "extremely disappointing" that people are calling for gun reform.
She says "there are times for political debate, but this is not one of them." We beg to differ. #mepolitics #EnoughIsEnough pic.twitter.com/su2xv3Is4i

Considering there have been nearly as many mass shootings as days in 2019, people are wondering exactly when Collins will approve of a “political debate” or discussions about reducing gun violence.
If we wait for all the memorials to be over, hell will freeze over before we can address the gun issue.

Bre Kidman, who is running for Collins’ seat, also finds the Senator’s inaction “distasteful.”
Oh my god, give it a rest Susan. Sit ALL THE WAY down.
The idea that @SenatorCollins still has a job as a policy maker with the attitude that urgent action is distasteful is *~extremely disappointing~* https://t.co/4PQBeFI9uR

Apparently, being “disappointed” is Susan Collins’ brand…

The truth is, the only people who should be “disappointed” here are the people of Maine who were expecting a Senator who would show actual leadership to solve the nation’s most pressing problems.
