Rick Perry, Energy Secretary, claims that he contacted the President’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani to discuss Ukraine at Trump’s behest.
So Trump was the mastermind of the Ukraine mess — and no one else. Last week, Trump was blaming Perry for the July 25 phone the President made to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy that has led to the House impeachment investigation.
But according to the Wall Street Journal, Perry called Giuliani in May after a meeting at the White House where Trump told him to work with the lawyer to resolve the President’s concerns in Ukraine. Trump also gave the same instructions to U.S. Ambassador Gordon Sondland, Special Representative Kurt Volker, and Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI).
The Journal notes that Giuliani also spoke with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo “at the president’s behest.”
According to Perry, Giuliani was making claims that Ukraine had created evidence that was responsible for sending Paul Manafort to jail which they obtained from Hillary Clinton’s email server. Giuliani also believed “the dossier about Mr. Trump’s alleged ties to Russia” which was somehow blamed on Ukraine.
Perry told the WSJ, “I don’t know whether that was crap or what, but I’m just saying there were three things that he said. That’s the reason the president doesn’t trust these guys.”
Is there anyone affiliated with the Trump administration who is not corrupt? Asking for a…country.
