Donald Trump is a born-and-raised New Yorker. So when the President filed paperwork to change his residence from Manhattan to Palm Beach, Florida, governor Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) had a true, blue New Yorker response to it.
Responding to The New York Times report about the President’s migration down South, Cuomo’s tweet summed it up with a “good riddance.”
Good riddance.
It’s not like @realDonaldTrump paid taxes here anyway…
He’s all yours, Florida. https://t.co/9AX0q1aBkQ

Other New Yorkers weren’t far behind their governor. Since the President will now be a Florida man, some on social media think this could even revive the #FloridaMan meme. As Twitterati will remember, Florida Man is a Twitter account that curates hilarious news headline descriptions of bizarre domestic incidents involving a man residing in Florida.

Cuomo’s response could reflect the long history he has with Trump. The state of New York has earlier opened investigations into Trump’s family businesses. The President even fired off a series of tweets about how “very hard and expensive it was to live in New York.”
It is very hard and expensive to live in New York. Governor Andrew Cuomo uses his Attorney General as a bludgeoning tool for his own purposes. They sue on everything, always in search of a crime. I even got sued on a Foundation which took Zero rent & expenses & gave away…

In a declaration filed by the President, his primary Manhattan address has been changed to the Mar-a-Lago Club, Mr. Trump’s resort in Palm Beach, Florida. This should come as no surprise seeing that Trump spent 99 days at his club compared with 20 days at Trump Tower, according to NBC News.
Although Trump tweeted that he had “been treated very badly by the political leaders of both the city and state,” a person close to the president has revealed that the move was primarily for tax purposes.
