Exactly one year out from the presidential election and things are looking grim for a Trump reelection. The top five contenders for the Oval Office are pulling ahead.
According to a new ABC poll, the five biggest Democratic contenders are steadily increasing their leads over Trump.
- Former Vice President Joe Biden is up 17 points
- Senator Bernie Sanders (D-VT) is up 17 points
- Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) is up 15 points
- Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) is up 11 points
- Mayor Pete Buttigieg is up 11 points
Those numbers have been steadily increasing over the last few months. For example, back in July, Senator Sanders only held a 6-point lead over Trump and Senator Warren’s was just seven points.
The Impeachment inquiry appears to be taking a toll on Trump’s electability with 6 out of every 10 Americans believing him to be dishonest and untrustworthy. He is also seen as acting unpresidential by a whopping 66% of the population.
His base is still holding on very tightly, however. A hypothetical matchup between him and Biden puts Trump as a winner with conservatives (76%), white evangelical Protestants (76%), and Republicans (79%).
Trump is still losing ground with women. Female voters in the poll went for Biden over Trump by 30 points, Warren over Trump by 29 points, and Sanders over Trump by 26 points. Senator Elizabeth Warren is really moving ahead with female voters with her numbers practically doubling in the last four months.
Many expect these numbers to keep looking better for the Democratic candidates as the Impeachment inquiry continues.
