‘Worst First Lady in history’: Twitter mocks #UglyMelania after she defends her husband bullying Greta Thunberg

First Lady Melania Trump apparently only cares about her #BeBest campaign when she is shielding her son from imaginary insults, but any other child is fair game—especially when it is her husband doing the bullying.

When Greta Thunberg was named Time “Person of the Year,” President Trump was a bit perturbed. As usual, he took out his frustration on Twitter aiming a snarky tweet at the 16-year-old climate activist.

The President’s bout of cyber-bullying occurred just mere days after the First Lady expressed her ire over the mere mention of Barron Trump’s name during an impeachment hearing. Melania tweeted that a “minor child” should be “kept out of politics” and called for an apology.

Yet, when people started to question why she wasn’t stepping in to defend Greta, FLOTUS released a statement defending her husband. 

“BeBest is the First Lady’s initiative, and she will continue to use it to do all she can to help children. It is no secret that the President and First Lady often communicate differently - as most married couples do. Their son is not an activist who travels the globe giving speeches. He is a 13-year-old who wants and deserves privacy.”

The First Lady’s hypocrisy stoked a fire on social media where the hashtag #UglyMelania started trending. It also pushed up her #BeBest, but most posts were an ironic usage mocking the “First Lady’s initiative.”

Greta Thunberg is only three years older than Barron Trump, but it would appear that Melania really doesn’t care.
