Dershowitz in 2016: Trump is far more corrupt than Clinton ever was

Alan Dershowitz is currently busy defending Donald Trump as part of his impeachment defense team, but it wasn’t so long ago that he considered Trump to be too corrupt to be president.

Dershowitz, a law professor and constitutional scholar, is well-known for working on the defense teams of infamous clients such as O.J. Simpson, Jeffrey Epstein, and Harvey Weinstein before assuming his role as a Trump defender.

Yet, back in 2016, he was a lot more critical of Trump. During an interview on the Trending Today USA radio show, Dershowitz had this to say about the then-presidential candidate:

“When you compare that to what Trump has done with Trump University, with so many other things, I think there’s no comparison between who has engaged in more corruption and who is more likely to continue that if elected President of the United States. So I think what we’re doing is we’re comparing, we’re saying, look, neither candidate is anywhere close to perfect, let’s vote for the less bad candidate.”

Listen to the clip:

Dershowitz told CNN that those comments were made in 2016 because he was campaigning for Hillary Clinton.

“I was campaigning for Clinton. That’s what I believed at the time based on media reports. I didn’t know Trump. I knew Clinton.”

But he had a lot to say back in 2016, he even wrote that Trump was a “destabilizing and unpredictable candidate” in his book. He also criticized candidate Trump for not disavowing the Alt-Right:

“I think he’s a canny politician and he knows he can’t win this election without the alt right”

Now, he is busy defending the “unpredictable” president.
