‘Promote the possibility of lasting peach’: 16 of Trump’s worst gaffes and flubs

Trump has no business pointing out when anyone else misspeaks.

The President recently decided to comment on Joe Biden’s “verbal gaffes,” which is quite hilarious considering the number of times Trump has fired off tweets that make no sense.

Here are 16 times that Trump either tweeted or said something that just made you scratch your head…

1. “Covfefe”

In May of 2019, Trump tweeted a seemingly bizarre message:

“Despite the constant negative press covfefe.”

After doing some digging, people realized that it was an attempt at saying “coverage.” Covfefe will always be infamous, however. At least Trump finally got a sense of humor about it:

In a press statement from the White House in 2017, Trump stated that one of his goals during his Israel trip was to “promote the possibility of lasting peach.”

There were other bizarre misspellings like that lack of apostrophes in “Israelis” and forgetting the d at the end of “couple.”

3. “W.H. Council”

In May of 2017, Trump tweeted about Sally Yates, who was the former acting attorney he fired. Yates was getting ready to testify before a Senate subcommittee about her role in the Micheal Flynn debacle. But… in classic Trump fashion, he decided to chime in:

“Ask Sally Yates, under oath, if she knows how classified information got into the newspapers soon after she explained it to W.H. Council,” Trump said on Twitter.

Council or did he mean counsel? The best part about this is that Merriam Webster let him have it:

4. “Unpresidented”

In 2016, Trump delighted us with the misspelling, slipping in his own title. The Chinese had seized a US Navy drone and Trump described it as an “unpresidented act.” The tweet was later corrected:

5. “Tapp my phones”

Trump brought the political landscape to a screeching halt when he accused Barack Obama of wiretapping his office in 2016.

“How low has President Obama gone to tapp my phones during the very sacred election process. This is Nixon/Watergate. Bad (or sick) guy!” the president tweeted.

At the time, the claim was criticized by many. Later on, former FBI Director James Comey testified that “the department has no information that supports those tweets.”

The best part about this was that he couldn’t even spell “Tap” right….

6. Trump’s Official Inauguration poster

Trump’s official inauguration poster had a glaring error.

“No dream is too big, no challenge is to great,” is what the text read on the poster. But it should have been spelled, “no challenge is too great…”

7. “Thr coverage about me … gas been so false and angry”

Another head-scratcher here. At this point, can we even understand what’s going on? This tweet literally does not make sense.

8. “Honered to serve”

The day after assuming the presidency, Trump tweeted that he was “honered to serve you…”

Many Twitter users bashed him, in which he later deleted and reposted it with the correct spelling.

9. The armed forcef

At a speaking event in Louisville, Kentucky last August, the President was addressing a group of U.S. veterans when he slipped and slurred while reading off of the teleprompter.

He seemed to have particular trouble with the word forces, and he also renamed a famous 5-star general:

“The members of our armed forcef (sic) I, and you understand that very well - the members of our armed forcer (sic) have always lived by the word of Douglas Magarth (sic): ‘In war, there is no substitute for victory’.”

 

 

10. Tanza…what?

It is no secret that Trump isn’t really a Geography buff, and he proved it once again with his mispronunciation of Tanzania.

“Tanzaynia” was what the President renamed the east African country.

11. Disrespecting the queen

12. Puwerto Rico

13. Channeling Elvis

Back in 2017, Trump’s inner-Elvis started showing. Before ending his speech with a “Thank you very much,” Trump also mispronounced the name of the country—thanking the United “Shtatesh.”

Uh huh.

14. Hiss!

This one isn’t a mispronunciation…it is just truly bizarre.

15. Drug traffickers bringing…

Speaking at the American Farm Bureau Federation’s 100th Annual Convention, Trump was doing another one of his pitches for his big, beautiful wall claiming it will keep heroin out of the country. Only he had a little trouble with the word heroin.

16. Mayor Pete

Trump must have been quite relieved when Mayor Pete dropped out of the Democratic presidential race—mostly so he wouldn’t have to try and say his name any longer.

17. The India visit

Trump has difficulty with the English language. So, as you can expect, attempting to throw a bunch of Indian words into a speech resulted in a whole slew of mispronunciations.
