If you believe anything Donald Trump says, you may not think it is important to protect yourself from the new Coronavirus.
And believing Trump could cost you your life.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) give clear instructions on how to protect yourself from contracting Covid19. The World Health Organization (WHO) offers videos of protective measures.
But those who listened to Donald Trump while he lied over and over about this virus may not bother to look up those other sources. It is a problem that was pointed out by Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin.

Rubin was on MSNBC’s “AM Joy,” where she pointed out that the irresponsible spread of misinformation by outlets such as Fox News will likely have unfortunate consequences for their audiences, “the Republican older viewers.”
I hate to put it this way, but there will be less Democrat deaths…

Just last week, Trump claimed that people returning from other countries were being heavily tested for the disease, but this is not true.
Whether they have traveled or not, most Americans still cannot get tested.

When Americans die, it will be because of enablers like Seema Verma. https://t.co/Gxiif4yaZK

Fox News played their part. Most Fox hosts have repeated and amplified Trump’s lies and “hunches,” saying the Coronavirus is no worse than the common flu and calling coverage of the pandemic an attempt to undermine the President.
Fox viewers tend to be older, which means Fox spreads Trump’s lies to a population most vulnerable to the disease. And those who listen may well be spreading coronavirus to each other.

Meanwhile, Democratic presidential candidates take this disease seriously. Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders have canceled their rallies, and when they debate the fine points of how to get health care to all Americans, they do it without an audience and while standing 6 feet apart.

Trump did tell the truth once about the coronavirus, though, when he said, “I don’t take responsibility at all.”
