Rep. Greg Steube (R-FL), a staunch Trump ally, probably should have focused more on carefully writing legislative language than on coming up with cutesy titles. The OMAR Act, which he tried to aim at Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), could block President Trump’s campaign from spending money at Trump’s properties.
With all the nuance of a cartoon character, Steube titled his bill, “Obstructing Monetary Allocations to Relatives Act,” or OMAR Act, according to the Daily Beast. But maybe Steube should have spent more time on the bill language and less time on the cute title. Because of the sloppy language, an equally appropriate title for the bill would be “Terminating Relatives’ Unearned MAGA Payments Act.”
As Twitter put it, “Steube is not the brightest bulb.”
