‘Dragging Right Leg’: Even right-wing Drudge Report thinks Trump had a stroke

Donald Trump is the oldest person to be president of the United States. So, it doesn’t matter if navy doctor Ronny Jackson tells reporters at the White House that Trump could live to be 200 years old, his health is bound to come into focus.

Which is what ensued on Tuesday. News began making rounds about Trump’s unannounced 2019 visit to Maryland’s Walter Reed Medical Center. Could they have been because he had a series of “mini-strokes”? The question was even asked on the right-wing sites.

New book: VP Pence asked ‘to be on standby’ before Trump’s hospital visit

In his upcoming book, Donald Trump v. the United States: Inside the Struggle to Stop a President, The New York Times reporter, Michael S. Schmidt writes that the very routine physical isn’t quite what it seems.

The White House’s West Wing staff were told to put Vice President Mike Pence on standby “to take over the powers of the presidency temporarily if Trump had to undergo a procedure that would have required him to be anesthetized.”

Such a measure — Section 3 of the 25th Amendment — was previously invoked only when the president was temporarily incapacitated. Like in 2002 and 2007, presidential powers were temporarily transferred to VP Dick Cheney when George Bush was undergoing a colonoscopy.

‘Mini-stroke’ theory makes an appearance on Twitter

If you’re wondering what procedure Trump was undergoing that had him invoke said measures, you’re not the only one.

Former White House Press Secretary under President Bill Clinton and CNN political analyst, Joe Lockhart decided to ask the question:

Trump’s baffling tweet in response only opened the floor for more questions: What is he hiding?

Of course, 45’s campaign quickly called for CNN to fire Lockhart, saying that his “ludicrous and reckless speculation” caused the rumor to spread.

Trump continued to deny the stroke theory, convincing some that this is now real.

Even right-wing Drudge Report thinks the stroke is for real

If CNN was, in fact, “complicit in the smear campaign in order to level the playing field against Joe Biden” as Trump’s campaign claimed, conservative news website, Drudge Report is also in on the smear. ran The Hill’s report with the headline, “Trump denies mini-stroke sent him to hospital.”

They even linked it to a video of Trump dragging his leg as he walked.

Trump later slammed Matt Drudge, owner of the right-leaning site, claiming that Drudge himself reported the president had had a stroke.

‘The story doesn’t add up’

After Trump’s physician denied that the president had a stroke, CNN Chief Medical Correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta questioned the whole scenario, saying, it didn’t add up.

The White House claimed that Trump just needed some routine tests. Dr. Gupta pointed out that the White House is actually equipped enough to run them; Trump didn’t have to go to the hospital.

He also noted that it was unusual especially because presidential physician Dr. Sean P. Conley rode to the hospital with Trump.

This was a very unusual visit. Dr. Conley got in the vehicle with the president — that doesn’t happen. Typically the physician, White House physician, is in a separate part of the convoy of the motorcade because they need to take care of the president if something were to happen, and then he’d be able to get to that vehicle. All these things just don’t add up.

He concluded,

So here we are, you know, and medical information is understandably very protected and so we may never know, but I think it’s safe to say several months later it still doesn’t add up.

What’s strange about the whole situation? The White House said what he didn’t have done, but why aren’t they telling America what he did have done?

Trump’s obvious health decline has been making headlines for a while now.

Earlier this year, The Lincoln Project ran a new ad showing evidence that Trump is not well. The ad even asks why Trump had a “secretive midnight run to Walter Reed medical center,” causing the hashtag #trumpisnotwell to trend on Twitter.
