On Wednesday, Trump flew out to El Paso to visit the hospital where victims of the mass shooting were being treated. Somehow, the president decided that this would be a good time and place to brag about the size of the crowd at his most recent El Paso campaign rally. He also managed to take a few digs at Democratic candidate Beto O’Rourke, referring to him as “Crazy Beto” and denigrating O’Rourke’s crowd sizes:
This is viewer video of President @realDonaldTrump and @FLOTUS at @umcelpaso meeting with victims and medical staff. Send us any photos/videos of president Trump’s visit to #ElPaso and we may show it on TV. Upload here: https://t.co/UHa4MdGOH4 pic.twitter.com/DD5otJtYEg

O’Rourke responded to Trump’s predictable antics with this tweet:
This community is focused on healing. Not hatred. Not racism. Certainly not crowd sizes. Our community — and our country — will not be defined by @realdonaldtrump’s smallness. We will be defined by the love, compassion, and strength of El Paso. https://t.co/etBaR9W0eA

Putting the focus on himself instead of the needs of the victims is no surprise, especially since Trump reportedly requested that an injured baby, whose parents both died in the mass shooting, be brought back to the hospital for a photo op.
