Joe Walsh, a former US Rep from Illinois, has announced that he will be running against Trump in hopes of snagging the Republican presidential nomination. Walsh considers it his moral duty:
“Look, I have been waiting every single day this year for somebody to step up, a Republican to step up, to make the moral case against him. That he is unfit. Come on—somebody should challenge him.”
Walsh has been very critical of the president on Twitter, even going so far as to apologize for helping get Trump elected in 2016.

There is at least one other Republican contender vying for the nomination, Bill Weld, the former governor of Massachusetts threw his hat in the ring back in April. Former Rep. Mark Sanford has expressed interest in joining the fight as well.
