Representative Steve Womack (R-AR) got booed very loudly by his constituents Wednesday after he blamed the recent spate of gun violence on single mothers.

At a town hall discussion on Wednesday night on gun violence, a video of which was posted to YouTube, he said:

“We have too many kids growing up in single parent households.”

The crowd instantly erupted in boos and shouts with things like “It’s the guns!” and “That is bull” rising above the din.

One woman can be heard clearly exclaiming, “I am a single mother and that is so disrespectful. Shame on you.”

Womack is among the 188 Republicans who voted against enhancing background checks for those attempting to purchase guns.
