‘It’s time for you to go, Moscow Mitch’: Former Trump supporter slams McConnell as a ‘Russian puppet’

Moscow Mitch

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has repeatedly expressed his dislike for the nickname Moscow Mitch.

But one former Trump supporter and Army veteran, David Weissman, recently told Moscow Mitch that if he doesn’t like the nickname then he should start doing his job.

Weissman expressed his sentiments in an “Open Letter to Moscow Mitch” published by The Times of Israel. He pointed out that McConnell has left important pieces of legislation languishing on his desk, and reminded him that “we are living in troubled times.”

Weissman went on to say:

“You are failing the people that elected you to act as Senator, but instead you act as Russian puppet. You have also blocked bipartisan bills that would protect elections in our country. This gives Russia more opportunities to interfere in our elections. You are single handedly putting our Democracy at risk. This is why the people are calling you Moscow Mitch. If you don’t like the nickname, do your job and represent the American people.

He ends by endorsing Moscow Mitch’s opponent for the Senate, Amy McGrath, and says “It’s time for you to go Moscow Mitch.”

Also slamming McConnell this week was former GOP congressman Joe Scarborough of MSNBC. Scarborough claimed Mitch has been at the beck and call of Vladimir Putin and has absolutely no interest in protecting American citizens.

Scarborough — whose rage was stoked by an editorial from the Washington Post pleading with Mcconnell to do something with gun legislation — said:

“That’s what Moscow Mitch says…he’s going to have the legacy of basically doing the work of Vladimir Putin. He’s been told by everybody that Russia is trying to interfere and disrupt our democratic process, that we are under attack. And so Mitch McConnell is killing Republican bills … that would protect the homeland.”

“What about his legacy protecting us from domestic enemies? People that would shoot children, first graders … with AR-15’s. Or people that would shoot wildly from their car in Odessa, Texas—and shoot 17-month-old babies in the back seat of their cars.”

“Moscow Mitch won’t do anything in protecting us from foreign enemies, he has been the one person that has killed every one of these bills to protect us from our domestic enemies, that are gunning down our children every day. What’s his end game? What’s his legacy? Where does it end? Russia is invading this country and we need to protect the homeland.”

Twitter users also like to keep reminding McConnell of his nickname, and the reasons why he has been given the moniker:
