‘Disgraceful’: Ex-GOP Rep slams Lindsey Graham for breaking Senate Oath to ‘do impartial justice’ in Trump trial

Lindsey Graham once said impeachment was about "cleansing the office". Now he doesn't care

During an interview with CNN International at the Doha Forum in Qatar on Saturday, Representative Lindsey Graham (R-SC) dropped all pretense of being “impartial” and bragged that he had no plans to be fair in the expected impeachment trial of President Donald Trump.

It is the same tactic that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is employing—a tactic that has many demanding he recuses himself from the trial. McConnell’s blowback doesn’t seem to be deterring Senator Graham in the slightest, however.

Former GOP Representative Joe Scarborough called this “disgraceful.” The host of MSNBC’s Morning Joe can’t believe that the Senator would disregard his oath in such a manner: “He is actually bragging about the fact that he’s not going to be fair. He seems to take great pride in the fact that he is going to be everything that he hated back when I knew him.”

Even the Lindsey Graham from 1998 would be disgusted with the Graham of today. During former President Clinton’s impeachment proceedings, Graham was pleading to allow “the facts to do the talking” and for his colleagues to give the case “due justice.”

The oath Senator Graham will vow to uphold states, “I will do impartial justice according to the Constitution and laws.” By his own words in Qatar, Graham fully intends to break this oath.
