In July 2017, Trump was heavily criticized for nepotism when his daughter Ivanka sat in on a meeting at the G20 summit.

The decision to let her take her dad’s seat, despite her scant knowledge of world affairs, attracted ridicule everywhere.

Naturally, Trump lashed out as he usually does, tweeting: “If Chelsea Clinton were asked to hold the seat for her mother, as her mother gave our country away, the Fake News would say CHELSEA FOR PRES!”

That elicited this sarcastic response from Chelsea Clinton on Twitter:

Now it has emerged that the tweet, which got half a million likes, was also liked by the account for the U.S. mission to the European Union.

Trump was enraged and wanted the State Department to find out who did it.

At least 10 people were interviewed about whether they, as administrators of the account, had mistakenly or deliberately pressed the “Like” button. All of them denied any wrongdoing, those sources said. One individual familiar with the exchanges said the secretary of state’s top managers in Washington “wanted blood” and called Brussels numerous times demanding the name of the culprit.

U.S. officials in Belgium were never able to give Tillerson’s office a name and soon after, the embassy restructured the Twitter account and limited access to just two individuals.

The Daily Beast also reports that this ‘micromanagement’ caused headaches for staff around the world—who had to please both the State Department and the White House simultaneously.
