Many Republican senators who voted in the Senate trial against witnesses and evidence are up for re-election in 2020.
But acclaimed horror author Stephen King thinks another term of Susan Collins as the Maine senator would just be too scary.
“Hey hey, ho ho, Susan Collins has to go,” he tweeted. But even though Collins voted in favor of bringing more witnesses into the hearing, King believes it’s a sham vote and that she will vote to acquit Trump.
Republican Murkowski, not up for re-election, voted against witnesses.
Republican Collins, up for re-election, voted for witnesses.
Both will vote to acquit.
It's Moscow Mitch at his finest.

King is not the only one who doesn’t want Collins in office anymore: A poll from Morning Consult found she had a disapproval rating of 52%.
Collins absurdly refers to herself as a “centrist” in her letter to her supporters announcing her fifth run. “Is there still a role for a centrist who believes in getting things done through compromise, collegiality, and bipartisanship?” she wrote. “I have concluded that the answer to this question is ‘yes,’ and I will, therefore, seek the honor of continuing to serve as Maine’s United States Senator.”
But for a supposed centrist, Collins is easily swayed over to Mitch McConnell’s anti-democracy side. She agreed with him that the Senate impeachment hearing should advance without a confirmed list of witnesses. And while she voted in favor of witnesses later, the damage was already done—and, as King noted, the vote was meaningless because Moscow Mitch already knew he had the votes.
King has already complained that Collins has been in office for too long. “Susan Collins has been there for about a thousand years,” he told Stephen Colbert over the summer.
