Trump, MAGA crowd lose it when Obama tweets that his policies started the decade-long economic recovery

Trump contradicts himself. Again.

On February 17th 2009, President Obama signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act into law and kicked off the longest period of economic growth and job creation in American history.

Republicans were bitterly opposed to it of course but had no power to stop it. Now they want credit for it.

On Monday, the former President tweeted to remind Americans about our recovery after the financial crash.

“Eleven years ago today, near the bottom of the worst recession in generations, I signed the Recovery Act, paving the way for more than a decade of economic growth and the longest streak of job creation in American history.”

Naturally, even reminding Americans of that small piece of history drove Republicans into a rage.

Trump couldn’t stop his rage either, calling it a “con job”

But Forbes magazine, which doesn’t lean Democrat at all, points out:

The recent growth period started in July 2009 and has lasted for 127 months through January 2020. This surpasses the previous record of 120 months from December 2001 to November 2007, which then led into the Great Recession that Obama inherited.

This morning, former GOP Rep. Joe Scarborough had some tough words for his fellow Republicans.

“Each of the last three years of Obama’s economy were stronger than Trump’s 2019 when adjusted for trade, inventory impacts and government spending.”

Republicans can complain and stamp their feet all they want, but the facts speak for themselves.
