The world is hurting. The elderly and vulnerable are suffering from disease, pre-existing mental illness is exacerbated from isolation and stress, abuse and domestic violence has spiked, and hospitals are overwhelmed and undersupplied. If you are healthy and able, you may wonder how you can you safety break the monotony of quarantine and assist those in need. Below are seven volunteer jobs you can do from home that better the world.

#1: Listen to those hurting with 7cups

Isolation from coronavirus has been challenging for the majority but those with pre-existing mental health issues are particularly hurt by it. Help your community members by listening to those who are struggling through the website 7cups. All that is required is a strong wifi connection and a listening ear. #2: Create a Teddy for Teddies For Tragedies 

Focus your efforts in a craft project for good and make a teddy for a child in need. Children in refugee camps, orphanages, and hospitals around the world need a hug— and you can provide them with one that will last longer than a few seconds in the form of a stuffed animal. #3: Help Sexual Assault Survivors on RAINN’s National Sexual Assault Hotline

One of the many tragic outcomes of the global pandemic has been the increase of domestic violence. The Rape, Abuse, Incest National Network, or RAINN, is here to help. #4: Put Your Language Skills to Good Use with Translators Without Borders

The global pandemic has taught us that our world is more globalized than any of us ever realized. If you speak another language, help share knowledge through translating text online. #5: Donate Blood to the American Red Cross

Although this technically does involve leaving your home, the American Red Cross has worked tirelessly to provide a safe and sanitary environment to donate blood. As sick Americans flood hospitals, the need for healthy individuals to donate blood, platelet and AB Elite plasma only increases. #6: Foster a Furry Friend through the Humane Rescue Alliance
