After being targeted by a Trump conspiracy theory tweet, Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough responded, “Mr. President you’re getting worse every day. You need to take a rest.”

Trump’s tweet suggested that the death of an aide to Scarborough when he was a Florida congressman—a woman who died nearly 20 years ago because of heart arrhythmia—is an unsolved mystery.

In responding to Trump’s bizarre attack, Scarborough noted that the president “meant to be extraordinarily cruel,” saying, “you don’t understand the pain you cause to families who have already lost a loved one … as if losing a loved one the first time isn’t enough.”

Joe questioned what the president had done during his supposed working weekend. “You got it wrong again,” Scarborough exclaimed, “what did you do during your working weekend?”

In a weekend which did seem to be a little light on work, Trump retweeted conspiracy theories about Jeffrey Epstein and Barrack Obama, videos of Mike Tyson working out, and videos of Trump supporters happily drinking on their boats while cruising in dangerously close proximity to other craft. He also threw in photos from his golf resort in Scotland.

“Really, you have time for this?” Joe Scarborough asks.

Scarborough also pointed out that the president made time to “attack George W. Bush for simply sending out a unifying message to give Americans hope. He said positive things,” referring to the former Republican President’s message calling for national unity.

Scarborough is not surprised that Trump is “offended by a former president calling all Americans of all parties together in this time of crisis.” Amidst Trump’s tweeted conspiracy theories, continued denial of responsibility, and self congratulation, there was a marked absence of messages of condolence, words of unity, or scientific facts.

Time to take another type of ‘me time.’

Now that Trump is facing facts, how will he convince his supporters to do the same?

“I ask that you get checked out,” Scarborough pleaded with the president. “We are a country at war, but we’re losing that war. Mr. President, you’re getting worse every day. You need to take a rest.”

He added, “Come back when you can really actually focus on your job, because you just can’t do that right now, and Americans are dying every day because of it.”
