President Donald Trump has, time and again, assaulted the press and said unsavory things about reporters. For starters, he has called them “terrible,” “fake,” and “nasty,” at press briefings.

But on May 4, the Trump campaign took it a step further. They released a campaign ad showing Trump as Yoda, decapitating cable news networks.

The video, captioned “May The 4th Be With You!” was released on “Star Wars Day,” is a scene from “Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith.”

It fixes Trump’s face on Yoda and shows him decapitating clone troopers labeled with the logos of CNN and MSNBC. The troopers are sent forth by Emperor Palpatine (that has his 2020 presumptive Democratic opponent Joe Biden’s face on him.)

Twitter couldn’t resist the opportunity to not just call out the errors in the ad, but to condemn its timing as the U.S. continues to battles coronavirus, and more than 69,000 Americans have died from it.

One Twitter user noted how this is inciting violence, taking a dig at Trump’s favorite pastime: verbally assaulting journalists. Not to mention how his campaign decided to seriously infringe on copyrights…

Another Twitterati couldn’t help but call out the poor timing of this ad’s release.

Some faithful Star Wars fans even pointed out how the campaign probably didn’t watch the movie because in reality, “Palpatine kicks Yoda’s a**.” Kind of like when they put Trump’s head on Thanos

Others inferred what the ad was really saying — that Biden will beat Trump.

Many hawk-eyed fans nitpicked the campaign ad for differences (and similarities) between POTUS and the legendary Jedi master.

The similarity being the size of hands. (Amongst most other things, Trump’s hand size has made headlines.)

But Yoda’s hair!

One Twitter user even took a dig at his hair.
