Oil, mining, and manufacturing businesses were most successful in landing help from a federal loan program designed to prevent layoffs, according to a Census Bureau survey.
The Census Bureau’s Small Business Pulse Survey found oil extraction and mining businesses fared better than any other sector at receiving loans from the Paycheck Protection Program, according to the Associated Press. There were other disparities as well, with nearly two-thirds of Arkansas, Maine, and Oklahoma small businesses successfully receiving loans compared with just over one-in-five in California.
President Trump has been vocal in his support for the oil and gas industry during the coronavirus pandemic.
