It’s official: Georgia Governor Brian Kemp isn’t a big fan of this whole ‘voting’ thing!

Type in “Brian Kemp voter suppression” and feast your eyes on the 298,000 results! I’m sure it’s much higher than that, but he probably suppressed those numbers, too.

  • Kemp and his pals purged more than 1.4 million voters from the rolls during his tenure. And county and state officials closed 214 polling places from 2012 to 2018, mostly in — you guessed it! — places where minorities lived!
  • On a single night in July 2017, half a million voters, or approximately 8% of all registered Georgia voters, had their registrations CANCELLED in which The Atlanta Journal-Constitution called “the largest mass disenfranchisement in US history.”
  • In a leaked 2018 recording, Kemp said that attempts to register all eligible voters “continue to concern us, especially if everybody uses and exercises their right to vote.”
  • Emails obtained by the House Oversight Committee “show that Mr. Kemp and a top campaign aide congratulated each other for confusing the public about their illegal voter roll purges. They also celebrated as they made it harder for hundreds of thousands of Americans to vote. They even used laughing and smiling emojis in a sickening display of derision.”

Frankly, I’m ashamed we share the same first name.

And people who know Brian Kemp far better than I do have these glowing things to say about him.

Tuesday, June 9th, was “election day” in Georgia.

But Bigot Brian was up to his old tricks…making it hard for anyone who isn’t white to vote.

They weren’t ready

The consensus is that Georgia wasn’t ready for this election? Um… you had plenty of time to get ready to open the nail salons and gyms… And the election was originally scheduled for March 24th, so that’s BONUS TIME TO FIGURE IT OUT!

Georgia got some new voting machines to further tease the residents. Unfortunately, they’re anything but secure. Hackers can easily manipulate the code and CHANGE THE VOTE COUNT! Oh, but that’s assuming they’re even functioning. Secretary of State and Kemp protégé Brad Raffensperger blamed the issues on poll workers “not understanding set up or how to operate voting equipment.” Wrong. Multiple precinct managers said that ballots failed to appear after voters inserted their access cards.

Andrea Young, executive director of the ACLU of Georgia, said that Raffensperger’s office urged counties to use out-of-state processors located in Colorado and Arizona. These processors TOOK MONTHS to send ballots cross-country, and many voters had yet to receive them by Election Day.

How convenient! I mean, if you’re Brian Kemp.
