The Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Florida is also known as “The Swamp.” Donald Trump has repeatedly promised to drain the swamp. In the lead up to the 2016 election, he tweeted “drain the swamp” a total of 79 times. He tweeted “swamp” a further 75 times in the last four years.
The United States was one of the world’s worst-hit countries by the coronavirus pandemic. For several months earlier in the year, America was the global epicenter of COVID-19. The virus continues to spread throughout the nation. One of the latest victims to test positive for the disease was the President himself.
Now, with the rising numbers in Florida and the outbreak among the players, the game was canceled. The Ben Hill Griffin Stadium was eerily quiet and utterly empty…a drained swamp.
