The cost of measures to limit global warming to the 1.5°C envisioned in the Paris Agreement would only amount to 12% of the total currently pledged for COVID-19 stimulus, according to a paper published in Science.

Governments around the world are expected to spend more than $12 trillion, about 15% of global GDP, to stimulate economic recovery from the damage wrought by the COVID-19 pandemic.

That amount far outstrips the cost of limiting climate change, the authors argue, and illustrates the relative affordability of combating climate change.
