On Monday another former Trump official blew up the President’s defense against impeachment.

Fiona Hill, a former top Russia adviser for the White House, told investigators that Rudy Giuliani—President’s Trump’s lawyer—was running his own operations in Ukraine to personally benefit the President.

‘A Drug Deal’

NBC News reported that President Trump’s former national security adviser John Bolton called efforts by Rudy Giuliani to get Ukrainians to investigate Joe Biden a “drug deal,” Ms. Hill told investigators.

Bolton was so alarmed by what Giuliani was doing, he reportedly told Ms. Hill to tell White House lawyers:

“I am not part of whatever drug deal [Gordon] Sondland (the U.S. ambassador to the European Union) and [Mick] Mulvaney (acting White House chief of staff) are cooking up.”

‘A Hand Grenade’

That wasn’t the only time John Bolton apparently expressed such views, according to Ms. Hill. Another time, Bolton also said:

“Giuliani’s a hand grenade who’s going to blow everybody up.”

Giuliani responded to Bolton’s “hand grenade” by calling the former national security advisor an “atomic bomb” and complaining that Bolton would “attack a friend falsely.”

Why the testimony mattered

Ms. Hill told investigators that Rudy Giuliani was effectively running a shadow foreign policy that ignored U.S. officials and diplomats in order to sink Joe Biden’s candidacy.

Rudy Giuliani has himself admitted that he asked a Ukrainian prosecutor to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden.
