Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook, was testifying before the House Financial Services Committee in order to discuss his new cryptocurrency called libra. However, it was two freshman Representatives that really owned the meeting, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Katie Porter (D-CA).
CBS News reports that Zuckerberg used his opening remarks to discuss the social media platform’s plans for civil rights, its diversity record, and the ways in which the libra project will be a boon to national security. However, when it was time for him to field questions from the committee members, he lost quite a bit of his confidence and swagger.
He has no answers for Porter when she questions him about the defense his lawyers are using regarding the data breach. Her distaste for his answers can clearly be heard when she scornfully retorts, “No harm, no foul. Facebook messed up but it doesn’t matter.”
Um. Katie Porter just went Gladiator on Mark Zuckerberg. @ewarren is surely smiling somewhere. Lord have mercy. Pain. pic.twitter.com/mciFa8ZVnN

AOC didn’t cut him any slack either when she went after him for the claim that Facebook won’t be checking political ads for truthfulness. She then backed him into a corner with her questions about using a fact-checker with ties to white supremacist groups.
This is a WILD exchange. The last two questions at the end made me gasp. @AOC: "So you would say that white supremacist tied publications meet a rigorous standard for fact checking?" Watch how Mark Zuckerberg responds.pic.twitter.com/tHKKu7VTVU

This Twitter may have said it best:
Ms Porter and AOC are taking Zuckerberg to school and it’s plain to see he really didn’t do his homework on the test subject
