The Attorney General of the United States will spend at least $30,000 on a family holiday this Sunday, which will go straight to his boss’s pockets.
If that doesn’t sound like corruption, what does?
William Barr booked Trump’s D.C. hotel for a 200-person holiday party in December. According to the Washington Post, he is paying for the event himself.
This isn’t the first time eyebrows have been raised over such deals involving Trump properties.
The ethical implications of employees spending money to enrich their bosses are bad enough, but many worry that such deals also make it easier for foreign actors to curry favor with the President.
Lawmakers are also looking at whether foreign governments have been booking rooms at Trump properties in an attempt to get his attention. These rooms mostly sit empty, no one staying in them.
And let’s not forget Trump wanted to hold the G7 summit at his Trump National Doral Miami golf resort in Florida, which would have enriched him even further.
But at least the President is draining the swamp!
