Trump was just fined $2 million for defrauding veterans—and it barely registered in the media

Trump admits to using veterans fundraiser money to buy a portrait of himself for his hotel

This week, a sitting President of the United States of America was forced to pay out over $2 million to charities.

Why? Because Trump eventually admitted he had used veteran fundraiser money to buy a portrait of himself for his hotel.

On Tuesday, the New York State attorney general said the money had finally been given to eight charities.

And yet this news was barely covered in the media. It definitely wasn’t covered by Fox News and it wasn’t raised by any Evangelical leaders who claim Trump is a righteous President.

What happened?

To recap, the Trump Foundation raised money including $2.8 million at a fund-raiser for veterans in Iowa in 2016.

Trump admitted his charity gave his re-election campaign complete control over that money. What did they use the money for?

  • To promote his presidential bid
  • To pay off business debts
  • To purchase a portrait of himself to display in one of his hotels.

NPR reports that the $2 million in damages will be distributed to several charities including the Army Emergency Relief, Children’s Aid Society, Citymeals-on-Wheels, Give an Hour, Martha’s Table, United Negro College Fund, United Way of National Capital Area, and U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum.

But what’s more shocking is that such blatant corruption at the very top barely registered in the national consciousness.
