According to a new anti-Trump ad, if more of the LGBTQI community in the United States had voted in 2016, he would not be the President.

MeidasTouch flies the rainbow flag in their latest ad with the message: #VoteProud.

The 1.22-minute video was a joint creation by MeidasTouch, the LGBTQI organization Vote Proud, and Barbara Streisand.

The rousing background music was a new track by Streisand. It was created for this video together with Donna Summer and Vote Proud co-founder Bruce Roberts.

“Enough is Enough” represents the discrimination, abuses, and homophobia faced by the LGBTQI community. Many people’s situations have worsened in recent years, as the Trump administration has not only halted but reversed progress.

MeidasTouch posted the video with the message, “We need 7,000 retweets.” They hit their goal…and then some.

Voting is our new Stonewall

The message of the video was simple: vote this November to prevent Trump’s reelection. Biden is the clear favorite of the LGBTQI community.

Trump has failed millions through his discriminatory policies that reverse fundamental rights for many gay and transgender individuals.

The President courted votes from the LGBTQ community in 2016. In his 2000 political manifesto: “The America That We Deserve,” Trump stated he dreamed of an America free from “racism, discrimination against women, or discrimination against people based on sexual orientation.”

In the last four years, his administration has rolled back rights and protections for this community. Trump’s anti-LGBT agenda is the most aggressive of any recent U.S President to date.

He has reversed transgender rights in healthcare. Trump banned transgender people serving in the military. Most recently, Trump’s Department of Justice urged the Supreme Court to make it legal to fire gay or transgender employees because of their sexual orientation.

The Supreme Court used the landmark Civil Rights Act of 1964 to pass a federal ban on sexual discrimination in the workplace. And despite Trump, progress is still being made in some states.

Not everyone liked the message

The video received a torrent of supportive messages, likes, and retweets. Not everyone agreed with the tone of the video, however.

In the ad, Meidas Touch state that “in 2016, more than 50% of the LGBT+ community did not vote.” Some critics pointed out it could be interpreted as “blaming” the LGBTQI community for Trump being elected.

Others agreed more votes could have made a difference

And once again the stakes are high.
