Petty wars with the press, more COVID-19 denial, and threatening emails sent out to Democrat voters colored this week’s news. While both the Trump and Biden campaigns clashed this in the latest debate, viral anti-Trump ads took the stage online.

Here are some of the best ones from this week.

October 17, Saturday

“Trump drained the swamp, just not the one he promised,” said the Lincoln Project in their ad, “Swamp.”

“Following the example set by Donald Trump, Gators coach Dan Mullen demands 90,000 fans pack the stadium this weekend for the big game against LSU, despite COVID-19, despite over 200,000 deaths,” the video narrated. After that, 21 football players tested positive for COVID-19.

The video made the note that Trump had promised to “drain the swamp.” But “because of his failure,” The Swamp was drained “not just of fans, but of football itself.”

MeidasTouch started off Monday by hitting the ground running. “We’ve all been through a lot together,” said Trump as images of Americana flashed by. “It’s the beauty of everything and how it represents our country.” Empty stadiums, police cars, closed signs, and patients on ventilators were shown as Trump continued, “We are making progress and doing things for our great people that everybody said couldn’t be done.”

Protestors marched by, chanting “Vote him out!”

The Biden Campaign released an ad showing the timeline of Joe Biden vs. Donald Trump, as far back as 1973. Points of contention included sexism and women’s rights, racial discrimination, and the Affordable Care Act.

October 20, Tuesday

MeidasTouch released “Let’s Get Serious,” where a series of statements given by Trump were dismissed by his administration as “jokes” or “sarcasm.” The segment ended with Trump yelling at a reporter, “I don’t kid. Let me just tell you. Let me make it clear.”

“None of this is funny,” said the video.

October 21, Wednesday

The anti-Trump ads piled up on Wednesday, in preparation for the next day’s presidential debate. “Socialist authoritarians all start the same way,” said a narrator for the Lincoln Project’s ad, “Trump is English for Castro.” “Boastfully strutting like a rooster, posing for cameras, prancing before adoring crowds, promises of prosperity and justice,” it continued, showing former Cuba dictator Fidel Castro marching before Cubans in old film footage.

“Then the persecution of faith and descent, the propaganda, enemies lists, informers, the secret police, the knock on the door, the stolen lands, homes and dreams of generations,” narrated the ad.

“I can’t do another four years of this,” said Maggie, a hair salon owner, in a Biden campaign ad. “There’s never been more divisiveness in this country. It’s frightening.”

The Biden campaign also released an ad, “9 Times Donald Trump Failed at Business.” It listed the Trump Taj Mahal bankruptcy, the bankruptcy of two other casinos, the failure of Trump Mortgage, Trump University, the Plaza bankruptcy, Trump Steaks, Trump Vodka, Tour de Trump, Trump the Game, and the Trump Shuttle.

Finally, a new ad from Don Winslow Films hammered home the lie that the Trump campaign has been telling: that a Biden administration would take away all guns.

“Dear Republicans,” said the ad. “How can Joe Biden take your guns away? Didn’t Barack Obama take them away in 2008 and 2012?”

October 22, Thursday

The day of the debate came with four more viral anti-Trump ads. MeidasTouch released two ads that were meant to be part of a series. In the first part, the ad wrote, “If Trump can’t handle 60 Minutes, then he can’t handle four more years.” Clips from the disastrous 60 Minutes interview were shown alongside moments that Trump denied happened.

In the sequel to this video, more clips from the 60 Minutes interview are taken and juxtaposed with other statements that Trump made that he explicitly denied making in the interview. “Lesley, that’s such a vicious thing you just said,” he whined on camera. In reference to encouraging the violence against Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Trump denied saying anything at all.

The Lincoln Project released a poignant video, “Mourning in the Republican Party.” “Today, Senators and Congressmen are waking up to the reality that Donald Trump has broken their party,” said the ad.

Another Lincoln Project ad called back to the violent shooting in El Paso, where an extremist inspired by Trump’s words against immigration tried to shoot as many people as he could. “A president’s words have consequences,” the ad warned.

October 23, Friday

In “Trump Crime Family,” MeidasTouch places Trump’s words about the Biden family and Hunter Biden and applies them to scandals previously revealed about the Trump family, including their own ties to China.

In “Rats,” by the Lincoln Project, the recent actions of noted members of the Trump campaign is narrated as like rats leaving a sinking ship. “Bill Stepien and Jason Miller know it’s over. Even Jared knows,” said the video.
